The Journal of Translation is a peer-reviewed journal that aims to provide a source of information on various researches in translation studies and linguistics. The published scientific papers are results of research, conceptual ideas, theoretical studies and applications, or literature reviews which can be in the form of articles, practitioner research, thesis/dissertation summaries, and book reviews. The scientific paper manuscripts proposed for publication by the Journal of Translation must not have been published previously by any publisher or in any language. In addition, the paper manuscripts shall not be in the process of being reviewed for publication by any other journal. |

The Ethics of Scientific Publication upholds three ethical values in publication, namely: 1. impartiality, meaning free from any conflict of interest in the management of publication; 2. fairness, meaning giving authorship rights to the rightful author; and 3. honesty, meaning free from any duplication, fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism in publications. |

The following is the code of conduct that must be abided by all parties involved in the management of the Journal of Translation, namely, authors, editorial team, peer reviewers, managing editors, and publishers. |

A. Author’s Responsibilities |

1. Writing Standards The author shall accurately and clearly describe his/ her research and objectively discuss its significance. The research findings must be presented honestly, without duplication, fabrication, falsification, or manipulation of data. The author shall provide detailed data and analysis, supported by relevant references, and present the research in a writing format that adheres to the established guidelines. 2. Originality and Plagiarism The author shall submit the scientific paper that is completely his/her original work. Relevant publications and previous studies, from the author or other researchers, are cited as references to support the significance of the scientific paper. The primary sources or references are properly cited following standard citation guidelines. 3. Double Publication After submitting his/her scientific paper to the Journal of Translation, the author is prohibited from submitting the same paper to any other publisher, unless the Editorial Team have given their confirmation that they reject the proposal to publish the paper. The author is also not allowed to double publish the same paper by submitting the same findings to any other publisher. 4. Acknowledgement of data and information sources The author shall acknowledge all sources of data and information which are used and influence the results of the research. 5. Authorship The authorship of the scientific paper must reflect the researcher's significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, and interpretation of the study in the research and writing process. Individuals who made substantial but not significant contributions may be included in the list of co-authors. Those who provided technical or less substantial assistance can be mentioned in the acknowledgment section. The author must also ensure that all co-authors have approved the submitted scientific paper, their inclusion as co-authors, and that no co-authors' names are inappropriately listed. 6. Disclosure and Conflict of Interest The author must disclose the source(s) of funding for the research and any potential conflict of interest that could affect the results or interpretation of the research. 7. Fundamental Errors in Publication Upon finding any fatal error or inaccuracy in the submitted or published scientific paper, the author must inform and cooperate with the editorial team to correct the paper. |
B. Editorial Team’s Responsibilities |

1. Management Policy The Editorial Team is responsible for managing the journal, which includes holding regular meetings, reviewing manuscripts, coordinating with authors and peer reviewers, publishing the journal, and implementing various innovations to enhance journal management. 2. Publication Decision Based on the results of the review, the Editorial Team reserves the right to accept, reject, or request revisions to the papers. The Editorial Team’s actions shall be based on the journal’s management policy and various legal requirements, including those related to copyright and plagiarism. The Editorial Team may consult with peer reviewers and language editors to make decisions regarding the publication of the scientific papers. The Editorial Team is responsible for all published content, ensuring both the quality and integrity of the publication. 3. Paper Assessment The Editorial Team must ensure that all papers meet the initial requirements, particularly in terms of originality. Additionally, the Editorial Team must be capable of selecting peer reviewers with the most relevant expertise for each scientific paper. 4. Integrity All submissions must be treated equally and reviewed on the basis of their scientific merit, regardless of their authors’ sex, gender, race, religion, etc. The Editorial Team upholds the independence and integrity of Peer Reviewers and Language Editors, ensuring that their decisions are fair and unbiased. 5. Confidentiality The confidentiality of the papers must be maintained. The Editorial Team shall not disclose any information about the paper manuscripts to anyone other than the author(s), Peer Reviewers, Language Editor(s), and Managing Editor(s). 6. Disclosure and Conflict of Interest The Editorial Team shall not use any unpublished paper for personal gain. The Editorial Team shall also avoid being involved in the review of any scientific paper that may lead to conflict of interest. |
C. Responsibilities of Managing Editor |

1. Daily Commitment The managing editor is responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the journal, including collecting and listing all submissions received. 2. Coordination The Managing Editor coordinates all publication processes, including the planning of Editorial Team meetings and the entire flow of the publishing process. 3. Liaison The Managing Editor serves as a liaison who facilitates communication between the Editorial Team, authors, peer reviewers, and language editors. The Managing Editor contacts the Editorial Team to assess papers, manages all paper reviews, requests revisions from the authors, and sends the revised versions to the Editorial Team. 4. Editing At the final stage, the Managing Editor performs language editing, including correcting writing errors. |
D. Peer Reviewer’s Responsibilities |

1. Confidentiality Peer reviewers must maintain the confidentiality of all materials in the papers proposed for publication. They must not discuss these materials with others unless authorized by the editorial team. 2. Acknowledgment of Sources Peer reviewers shall ensure that authors have properly cited all data sources, references, and quotations used in their research. They must also identify any relevant publications that the authors may have overlooked. Upon finding any discrepancies, ethical violations, or concerns regarding the research or writing, the reviewers must promptly inform the editorial team. 3. Objectivity Peer reviewers shall provide objective and transparent reviews, offering constructive feedback that assists authors in improving their papers. 4. Disclosure and Conflict of Interest Peer reviewers must maintain the confidentiality of any information or special ideas encountered during the review process and must not use them for personal gain. They are not permitted to evaluate papers that lead to any conflict of interest due to competition, collaboration, or any other relationship with the author, company, or institution associated with the papers. 5. Punctuality Peer reviewers shall only agree to review a paper if they are confident they can provide feedback within the specified timeframe. They are responsible for completing the review process by the deadline set by the Editorial Team and must inform the team if additional time is required. 6. Expertise Peer Reviewers assess journal papers in accordance with their areas of expertise, providing advice and feedback to enhance the quality of the journal. |
E. Language Editor’s Responsibilities |

1. Language Editors check and edit the paper based on the Enhanced Indonesian Spelling or English grammar in accordance with the language used in scientific writing. 2. Language Editors review and edit the paper by identifying errors in grammar, word choice, spelling, or other aspects and shall be capable of suggesting more appropriate improvements. |
F. Publisher’s Responsibilities |

1. Publication The publisher must ensure that the Journal of Translation is published on time, twice a year, in June and December. 2. Dissemination The publisher is responsible for disseminating information on the publication of each issue of the Journal of Translation to stakeholders, such as government and private translators, universities, and other relevant institutions. 3. Promotion The publisher organizes various activities, such as seminars and workshops, to promote the Journal of Translation and attract the interest of contributors, including translators, academics, and students. |
